Lahore Food Street | Coocos Den | Tawa Karhai|Mutton Kabab

 Right now I'm in Lahore You'll be watching some delicious food, especially from The Walled City of Lahore and lot's of amazing food items We'll also visit Cooco's Den. It's a museum with great history So we'll explore that, and other than this.... I'll also explore other cities , try out new food and share my entire journey in the coming days So stay tuned for some amazing content in the coming weeks but for now, we'll check-in at hotel. start exploring The Walled City of Lahore So Let's Go! (Chalain!) It's evening now. We rested for a while after checking-in It's near sunset. This is when the food street comes to life Let's go towards our destination. This place is right behind Badshahi Mosque .

Lahore Fort This place is called a Shahi Mohallah It's evening. People will start coming as the sun sets There are still quite a lot of people here Right in front of me is the gate of the fort The Shahi Mohalla was built around the fort and now most of it has turned into a food street. You can also see the Minarets from here. What are you making? Tandoori Chai You come here, get dressed as a King . get your photo taken How much do you charge for a photo? Rs.150 is costume rent . Rs.40 per pic You can get as many pictures as you want basically this food street is just like a festival

 You can become a King here or enjoy the monkey show There are shops , restaurants here. It's a very nice tourist spot You also have a beautiful view of Badshahi Mosque , the Fort. So this place is called the Fort Road Food Street it was also known as Shahi Mohallah Cucoos's Den was the first restaurant that was established here before this food street was setup and then other restaurants also opened here afterwards These were basically houses of the Shahi Mohalla These houses were then renovated , turned into a cultural food street We'll go inside now. This place isn't just a restaurant it's like a museum.

 This place has a history So let's explore Cucoo's Den , see what's happening Nawab Begum of Patiala family migrated to Pakistan from Patiala, India in 1947 and resided in Shahi Mohalla, Lahore.

 In 1996 Nawab Begum's son Iqbal Hussain , daughter Shagufta Begum started a restaurant in this house and named it Cucoo's Den Iqbal Hussain always loved painting He portrayed the pain , sufferings of this place through his paintings and got praised from around the world Cucoo's Den started getting recognition from the entire world by it's location, history, architecture, taste . Iqbal Hussain's paintings This place is now run by Nawab Begum's grandson Abrar Hussain

 We came here in 1947 from Patiala, India We have this building since thenIt used to be a Hindu House , we preserved it All the statues are original , preserved All the wooden work is preserved too We turned this place in to a restaurant in 1996 Behind me is the Badshahi Mosque and right there is the Maharaja Ranjit Singh's samadhi and It is also a Gurdwara we can also see the fort from here as well Overall it's an amazing view from up here Which famous people or celebrities have came here? Indian, Australian . England Cricket Team came here Indian Poet Gulzar, Hariharan, Shatrugan Sinha, Jagjit Singh, all these artists have came here Politicians have visited too. Former President Musharraf once visited Former Chief of Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary . Saqib Nisar as well So you come up here from this lift.

 This goes towards the rooftop and the kitchen is at this side Everyone's working at full capacity What's your name? Muhammad Imran What are you making? Chef Ali This is Mutton This Tawa Karahi looks a bit different because Karahi is made in a Karahi dish in Peshawar . Karachi Yes it's Chicken Tawa Karahi. Its our special I'll halve it then full-fry it when there's an order It will be ready in 15 minutes What's the secret of your taste? We've just been using our original spices

 My grandmother was a great cook She was from India . learnt how to cook amazing food So we're still following most of those recipes She told us all the recipes . their ingredients You're still following family recipes. Amazing! Downstairs they're making Tawa Tikka , Karahi .Up here is Barbecue . Live Tandoor I've heard a lot about your Tandoori Paratha's tooWhere are they made? Right here What's all this? This is Kalonji. These are Poppy Seeds. Coconut Powder, Pistachios, Almonds .Sesame Seeds And right here is barbecue. So this is the ground floor? Yes Basically it was a Hindu house. This is all we found when we came here .we preserved all of it Like this temple inside. 

We've kept it in the same condition as it was in1947 So your family came here from Patiala .the family that lived here moved to India It was a Hindu's . we restored it We had to renovate it 'cause a few things were damaged thats why it's closed for public This place was opened for public in 1996 But from 1947 till 1996 their family preserved this place . it's great thing So we're here after checking out everything at Cocoo's Den We'll have our dinner here. This view is the best thing here Our dinner is here. They've brought Karahi .Mutton Kebabs Just check out this Tandoori Paratha. These are their famous paratha's This is a special Naan with Kalonji
