Lunch at Sumar Nala | Achar Walay Pakoray | Khanpur Dam Islamabad, Street Food Pakistan

These are the onion ones. One serving is enough for a person. Indeed! Assalamu-alaikum, I'm Zia Tabarak. Today we're headed back from Minapin, Nagar. Our lunch will be at Sumar Nala. And our dinner will be at Besham. That's where we'll stay too. We'll keep stopping over on our route, explore the scenery. And will show it all to you too! So let's go (#Chalain)! Good bye Talha! Thanks a lot Zia for being here! Fahim will be with us in the trip

Alright Farooq, it was awesome being here. Let's go. Allah hafiz! So should we go? (Chalain!) Yes! Chalain! Nanga Parbat's there. Nanga is right over there. We're headed back and will have lunch at Sumar Nala. Awesome view of Nanga Parbat! Wow! Stopped at a checkpost What's the price of these? One packet for PKR = Show the other one. Which one's better? This or that? Both! Let's check out this one, we haven't had this one yet.

They're edible and clean right? Check these apricots. Check this! Fahim have some apricots Which ones are better? These or the green ones? These ones right? They are local too. Have some apricots! Local apricot! They feel a bit raw? They aren't fully grown yet. It's a bit raw, and a bit sour. They'll ripen in a few days. We've just crossed Jiglot, two hours to Chilas. How much time to Besham? Seven hours! Long way to Besham. It feels quite warm now, compared to the upper areas

.  So we've stopped here to drink some water, wash our faces. What a view. We'll have to climb up to drink that. People wash their clothes here too. Just look at this! Mineral water! And totally pure. How's it going? Tight. Everything alright? What's for lunch? Daal, sabzi, chanay, chawal. Chicken qorma, beef qorma. Show me the kitchen. Assalamu-alaikum brother. Daal maash is here Bhindi Oh my favorite! Qeema! And...

.chana! Very nice very nice! Show it again, yeah we got pulao too! Really good really good. Your name? Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb? Yes. Aurangzeb has made all that, roti will be warm too? And your name? Eesa Alam. We're at Sumar Nala. This system is here to bring fresh water. And the water keeps flowing. Awesome. On the way to Besham is this Sumar Nala located.  And there's this hotel here where we had stopped when we were going up. There are some shops on the other side of the road too.  And there's quite a lot happening on the other side too.  What is this? Assalamu-alaikum brother. Making fish here eh? Which fish is this? Its from the river. Oh from the river? But what is its name? Its called Desi. Oh so they catch and sell it all right here. We just sell them, we don't catch them.  Right, can you show it to me? Just check this beautiful fish. We had about 10 kilos

, this is it. Oh well, ten kilos and its all gone now.  We've been doing this for 35 years. 35 years? So you buy the fish, fry it, sell it and you're done.  We thought we'd be able to get some fish but they don't have any left. But it smells great! Awesome. Let's head for the hotel. Check this! This spot is where you can see the view from. Just check this beautiful view! Water's gushing down! You can barely hear a thing because the water is flowing so loudly. And some of the water is getting sprayed all the way where I'm at.  We have pulao, qeema, bhindi, maash daal and cholay. Everything is warm and fresh. I'll try the bhindi first because its my favorite. You can hear the water behind me. Awesome. We need more bhindi. Things like daal and bhindi on these roadside places... They have their own unique taste. Some green peppers on the daal, colors are very vibrant.

Bhindi has more flavor and spices. Daal tastes a bit bland. Now comes the pulao. This is the qeema. Qeema's nice. All the food is fantastic, especially the bhindi. We'll have tea after this lunch. But it'll get dark by the time we get to Besham. We'll see what's up there later. But the food is awesome, especially the vibe here. There's a really beautiful waterfall here coming up soon. You won't find a shower like this anywhere else! I just wanna stand here and keep getting this spray of cold water. So the trip from Nagar to Besham was about 12 hours and that's because... The Naran-Babusar route, and this is when I'm travelling...

And it opens up in mid-to-late-June. Because the snow there hasn't melted till then. And that's the shorter route, the Chilas-Besham one is longer. We've ordered some light stuff right now, because we'll be going to Islamabad tomorrow.  So we're trying not to eat a lot right now. We have maash daal and some chicken karahi. After eating, we'll rest then leave for Islamabad tomorrow. Good morning, its a new day and we'll leave for Islamabad today. Gonna have breakfast right now. Quite a lot of people here today. Breakfast's being made here, how are y'all? A lot of people are here right now to eat, aren't they? Food looks tight. I recognise you! Need more tea? Oh we're short on tea? Tandoori parathas? Who ordered the tandoori roti? I did. We have chanay here and some malai and jelly

Lunch at Sumar Nala

. And parathas, eggs, roti and chai too. Breakfast usually has these items. We'll stop at Khanpur Dam which is close to Islamabd. Has quite a great view. There's a stream and a bridge under the hotel where we've stayed. They're loading the baggage up over there. And we're about to leave. Its hot and kids there are swimming! This would be a fun experience! Fahim told us about Sirai Saleh, a place on the way to Islamabad. The pakoray of that place are very famous.
